What is Airsoft?
Airsoft is an honour-based sport where participants use replicas – devices resembling real firearms – to fire plastic or bioplastic pellets. Unlike paintball, the pellets leave little visible mark, so players call their own hits. This makes airsoft unique – honesty and proper conduct are the foundation of the sport.
Airsoft is a growing sport in Estonia, attracting both young and older participants. Games take place on various fields – urban areas, forests, warehouses and purpose-built arenas. Every game is a new strategic challenge requiring teamwork, quick thinking and tactical planning.
How does airsoft work?
An airsoft game starts with a briefing where the game master explains the rules, safety procedures and game objectives. Participants are then split into teams and the game begins. Every player must wear mandatory protective gear – goggles or a full mask, and a protective vest. The replica is carried on a sling.
During the game, players move tactically, covering each other and completing objectives. When hit, a player calls out – "hit" – and temporarily leaves the field. Different game modes have different rules: sometimes players respawn, sometimes they don't.

Safety is paramount in airsoft. All participants must wear eye protection throughout the game. Replicas must never be pointed at anyone outside the play area. The replica should be kept on a sling when not playing.
